Notes on using Decalin DeeCarb: The Chemical Decarbonization Process

The symptoms of an engine needing "DeeCarb" are hard starting, rough running when cold, low compression and high fuel consumption.

For such engines, start with a high dosage and run the whole tank of gas through the engine. Then drop to a maintenance dosage. If no improvement is seen, then you should look for mechanical problems in the engine or carburetor.

In auto engine conversions this additive works especially well. One documented case showed a marked improvement in compression, easier starting and much smoother running when cold.

Decalin DeeCarb is not approved for use in the engines of certified aircraft, but the active ingredient is listed with the EPA and approved for use in auto gas. No harm has been observed in engines using this additive.
